Cervical cancer is the most common cancer among women in 45 countries and poses an even greater challenge for women living with HIV. In five countries in sub-Saharan Africa, we’re investing in a unique cervical cancer prevention network to expand the successful single-visit approach and encourage cross-country learning.
Project Activities
Create a Cervical Cancer Prevention Network, a system of country programs delivering critical prevention services, with Ethiopia serving as the hub
Orient selected health professionals to the Network’s model of the single-visit approach and train them in cervical cancer screening and treatment at one of five “center of excellence” university hospitals in Ethiopia
Conduct bilateral tours between countries to provide hands-on training and mentoring of skills, including visual inspection of the cervix with an acetic acid wash, cryotherapy, and Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure
