Pathfinder Names Mohamed Abou Nar as Chief Programs and Impact Officer

Based in Egypt, new executive role will oversee country teams and technical services

May 24, 2017, BOSTON—Mohamed Abou Nar, most recently Pathfinder International’s Senior Program Director for Bangladesh, Egypt, India, and Pakistan, will become its first Chief Programs and Impact Officer, effective June 1, 2017. He will be based out of Pathfinder’s Egypt office.

Abou Nar has over 20 years of experience in international development, project management, quality assurance, systems strengthening and project design, implementation and evaluation, and corporate social responsibility, as well as extensive experience in managing USAID funded projects. He has been with Pathfinder since 2003, serving in a variety of roles, including as Senior Country Representative for Egypt.

As the Senior Country Representative for Egypt, Abou Nar was instrumental in protecting the health of Egyptian women and girls, successfully defeating a proposal that would have lowered the age of marriage for Egyptian girls to 9 years of age.

“Mohamed’s leadership and experience will help Pathfinders worldwide contribute to significant, historic change for millions of women and families in the countries where we work,” said Lois Quam, Pathfinder’s President and CEO. “His appointment to this new role reflects our commitment to leveraging the expertise and knowledge of our global work force.”

In this newly created role, Abou Nar will work in close partnership with Quam to identify and prioritize global sexual and reproductive health challenges and solutions. As Chief Programs and Impact Officer, he will lead the implementation of global, regional, and country program strategies and provide oversight and guidance for the organization’s global projects and programs.

“At this time, our work has never been more important,” said Abou Nar. “I look forward to developing programs and partnerships that improve and strengthen our ability to provide critical services to the communities we serve.”

Abou Nar holds a Doctorate in Business Administration in Transformational Leadership, an MBA in Project Planning, Scheduling and Cost Control, and an MSc in Total Quality Management. He is internationally certified as a Quality Management Systems’ Lead Auditor and certified Assessor by the European Foundation for Quality Management. Abou Nar has developed and implemented several quality and integrated management systems globally and in Egypt and has extensive experience managing development projects promoting integrated models for strengthening maternal and child health, family planning, and reproductive health services.
