Estelle Brouwer served for the past six years as the former executive director of Women’s Advocates. In 1974, Women’s Advocates became the first shelter for people fleeing domestic violence in the U.S. Today it provides services across a full continuum of safety – domestic violence prevention, outreach and education; emergency shelter for victims and their children, and housing stability services for survivors.
Prior to joining Women’s Advocates, Estelle served for over 20 years in leadership roles with several Minnesota-based organizations dedicated to improving healthcare access and quality, including Children’s HeartLink, Stratis Health, and Minnesota’s Office of Rural Health and Primary Care.
Estelle holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the Goldman School at the University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Minnesota.
