Strengthening the Resilience of Women, Young People, and Communities in Fragile and Crisis-affected Settings
Shocks and stressors can lead to humanitarian crises that threaten the health, safety, security, and wellbeing of communities.
Pathfinder works to ensure comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for all people including those in fragile and crisis-affected settings by supporting locally led, gender equitable solutions that enhance integrated resilience capacities as communities prepare, respond, recover, and rebuild in the face of shocks and stressors including conflict and climate change.
Pathfinder’s integrated approach in fragile and crisis-affected settings includes strengthening health systems and supporting improved nutrition and water, sanitation, and hygiene. We position women and girls as change agents in their communities, strengthening access to equitable health services and building community resilience to climate shocks—ultimately helping women forge their own paths to a healthier future. Pathfinder:
- Increases the accessibility of health services to women and girls living in areas prone to climate-related disasters, developing climate-smart clinics, and building health sector capacity to provide climate-informed care.
- Advances gender equity within climate planning and response efforts, including both climate mitigation and climate adaptation efforts. We build intersectional equity, recognizing the leadership, knowledge, and needs of women, girls, and non-binary individuals.
- Supports innovation and adaptation based on specific community needs and goals, forwarding local climate solutions while leveraging learning across programs and regions to strengthen our impact.
