For nearly 40 years, Pathfinder has partnered with the Government of Egypt to advance reproductive health and rights, economic opportunity, and social stability. Today, Pathfinder is increasing women’s and men’s access to high quality family planning information, counseling, contraceptive methods, and services delivered by competent providers; enabling young people to mature into healthy adults by increasing their knowledge of reproductive health; and empowering women, men, and couples to achieve power-balanced family relationships.  

Pathfinder believes every individual should have the ability to take control of their health and future. In Egypt, we’re making sure they can. For nearly 40 years, we’ve partnered with the government to bring contraception to the doorsteps of Egypt’s hard-to-reach communities. Today, we’re building on this legacy—upholding the rights of young Egyptians, so they can choose their own paths forward. 

• Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health 
  Pathfinder partners with the government to train a national cadre of health workers, so more people in more places have access to the contraceptive services they need. We work to prevent child, early, and forced marriage by gaining buy-in from Egypt’s public and private sectors, including key ministers and religious leaders. We integrate family planning services into existing health services along the continuum of care for adolescents, youth, women, and men, and utilize and develop digital technology integrations to improve access to and demand for reproductive health information and services.
• Increasing Gender Equity and Including Youth 
  Pathfinder increases community support for family planning by transforming Primary Health Centers to Family Development Centers, where community members learn life skills and gender equity norms, and engage in activities that promote and reinforce these lessons. Pathfinder engages with youth and adolescents to design, adapt, and implement age-appropriate activities that speak to their needs and realities and engage them meaningfully in interventions. We engage men and boys in promoting positive norms around masculinity, while building community skills in preventing and responding to violence against women and girls. 
• Increasing Economic Opportunity for Women
  Pathfinder works to increase women’s participation in the workforce, by working with local firms, highlighting and demonstrating business incentives for recruiting and retaining women. We work with private-sector firms and site managers to adopt and implement key policies to reduce unsafe working conditions, including combatting sexual harassment and other forms of GBV. Pathfinder engages men and community leaders where women employees live to ensure gains made in the workplace are not lost outside of it. And, Pathfinder provides women with digital financial services. This includes micro insurance, micro savings and wider usage of digital payments. In addition to inclusion of the post-office, where many women in Egypt, especially those with low literacy, are most comfortable doing business. 
• Women-Led Climate Resilience (WLCR)  
  Pathfinder deploys an integrated community awareness program to achieve optimal FP/RH health outcomes by recognizing the interconnection between communities and their environments.  We work to improve the quality of life for communities put at risk by climate through women-led interventions to build more climate-resilient communities. Pathfinder’s Green Clinics equip clinic staff with needed information about climate shocks and promote green practices within those clinics and their surrounding communities. Additionally, Pathfinder works to empower socially and economically marginalized women, through community mobilization programs.
