Future of Health Conference 2024

Every year, Nigeria Health Watch’s Future of Health Conference convenes delegates, speakers and partners working to find solutions to the challenges in the health sector, advocating for policy action to ensure that all Nigerians have access to quality and affordable healthcare. Speakers represent the breadth of the health and other allied sectors, bringing forward ideas and sharing knowledge to inspire change in the health sector. Post-conference, insights from speakers, partners and participants continue to be strategically disseminated to inform ongoing conversations and advocacy.

Pathfinder Nigeria is organizing a breakout session titled “Building Climate Resilient Health Systems: Knowledge Exchange for Policy, Practice and Partnership” as part of the Future of Health Conference 2024. This session will be held during the 10th edition of the annual conference, which is known for facilitating deep discussions, showcasing innovations, and promoting networking opportunities among key stakeholders on both national and global scales. Pathfinder Dr. Amina Dorayi, Country Director of Nigeria will participate as a speaker.

The theme for this year, “From Evidence to Action: Building Resilience at the Climate-Health Nexus,” highlights the critical need to incorporate climate resilience into public health strategies. Participating in this session will provide an excellent opportunity to share insights from your initiatives and to collaborate on advancing climate and health resilience. 

Session Objectives 

  • To discuss the impact of climate change on the health of girls and women. 
  • To showcase locally led solutions and innovative approaches. 
  • To identify strategies for climate resilience and health system strengthening. 

This 10th edition of the Future of Health Conference will present an interdisciplinary platform to share evidence and action at the intersection of the climate-health nexus while fostering collaboration between stakeholders committed to addressing the complexities and challenges of integrating climate resilience into public health strategies. This landmark edition aims to catalyze transformative actions, promote sustainable healthcare solutions, and enhance the capacity of health systems to withstand and thrive amidst the escalating impacts of climate change.

Conference Objectives  

  • Amplify evidence on the health impacts of climate change in Nigeria and the African continent, highlighting localized, context-specific research evidence to inform policy actions.  
  • Drive public discourse and increase public and policymaker understanding of the need to act and build climate-resilient health systems. 
  • Promote knowledge exchange by facilitating the sharing of cutting-edge research, best practices, and innovative solutions among scientists, researchers, and health practitioners at the frontlines of the climate-health nexus.  
  • Foster cross-sectoral collaboration and interdisciplinary research by showcasing scalable solutions deployed across the continent, providing opportunities for dialogue and partnerships.  
  • Curate insights and proffer clear recommendations for policy action and change.
