Pathfinder International Announces Jimmy Nzau as Global Medical Director

April 23, 2020 — Pathfinder International is pleased to welcome Jimmy Nzau as Global Medical Director. Dr. Nzau joins Pathfinder with 16 years of experience as a physician and global health practitioner who has led multiple humanitarian and international development projects and initiatives in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.

Pathfinder has charged Dr. Nzau with leading its growing clinical portfolio, which spans contraception, comprehensive abortion care, maternal and newborn health, cervical cancer, and HIV in 17 countries.  He will be advancing the use of best practices across Pathfinder programs through enhanced global quality and learning, driving innovations and expanding the global clinical team.

“I am delighted to join Pathfinder, an organization known for its legacy in sexual and reproductive health and rights,” said Dr. Nzau. “I look forward to providing strategic leadership in the areas of clinical governance and accountability, including how Pathfinder can advance new approaches for delivering client-centered care.”

Dr. Nzau specializes in sexual and reproductive health and rights, with a focus on family planning, maternal and child health, comprehensives abortion care, and adolescents. He joins Pathfinder after spending the last decade with CARE International. Most recently, he served as project director of the global program, Supporting Access to Family Planning and Post-Abortion Care.

“Dr. Nzau joins Pathfinder at a critical time when Pathfinder is doubling down on its efforts to ensure that women and girls and their families continue to access quality sexual and reproductive information and services while preventing the spread and mitigating the impact of COVID-19,” said Catherine Kirk, Pathfinder’s Executive Director, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. “Dr. Nzau will lead Pathfinder’s effort to protect the frontline health workforce from COVID-19, the majority of which are women.”
