Sustainability of Behavior Change Under YUVAA (Phase 3) examines the persistence of new family planning related behaviors through a mid-term review of the YUVAA program. It covers stakeholder perspectives across the ecosystem from young married couples (YMCs) and YUVAAkars to key informants like Mothers-in-Law, bundled across three key areas from the YUVAA program – supply, demand and enabling environment.
The report examines the identity, motivations, knowledge, and skills of supply side actors like YUVAAkars in addressing challenges within the family or community that may hinder effective intervention delivery and mindset shifts regarding family planning and contraceptives. From the demand side, it covers the experiences of Young Married Couples, the beneficiaries of the YUVAA program, assessing their interactions with YUVAAkars, the agency of Young Married Women, the role of men in family planning, and the factors shaping demand for contraceptives. It also examines key actors, particularly Mothers-in-Law, who influence the enabling or inhibiting environment for family planning among Young Married Couples.
Overall, the findings highlight that YMCs engage with family planning and the YUVAA program in varied ways, presenting both success stories and challenges. This emphasizes the need for personalized and strategic approaches by YUVAAkars to effectively support and engage with YMCs based on their individual circumstances and preferences.
