Deepak is the founder and managing partner of Gaia Equity, a founder friendly firm investing in enterprise software, climate tech and healthcare.
Prior to Gaia, Deepak was the EVP and Chief Strategy Officer at SAP. During his decade long tenure at SAP, he led the firm’s strategy and transformation that resulted in a nearly 3X increase in top line, a 4X increase in market cap, and over $100 Billion of incremental shareholder value. As the CSO, he launched its early stage venture arm – SAP.iO – that made 30+ investments in fast growth startups including BigID, Adverity, and Shippeo.
Prior to SAP, Deepak was an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company in the Digital McKinsey practice and he started his career at Cognizant in 1999 where he held multiple leadership roles, including leading business development in North America for its Business Analytics practice. Deepak is an independent director on the board of Paradox.ai, a conversational AI driven recruiting platform.
He is passionate about social impact. At SAP, he launched its “No Boundaries” initiative focused on investing and accelerating startups led by women and minority entrepreneurs. He is an Edmund Hilary Fellow for Social Impact Investing and was recently a David Rockefeller fellow at the Partnership For New York City (PFNYC), a non-profit that promotes economic growth and innovation through public-private partnerships.
