Harriett Paul

Harriett Paul is a social scientist and a senior international development professional working in higher education at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, Florida. She currently serves as the director of the Office of International Agriculture in the College of Agriculture and Food Sciences. She is also the director of the college’s Center for International Agricultural Trade Development Research and Training. She has spent forty years working in international agriculture, designing and implementing numerous international education and workforce development, institutional capacity building, and sustainable economic growth programs. These initiatives are aimed at improving the quality of life of disadvantaged and under-served people in the Global South, with a focus on empowering women and youth. Her international agriculture work currently is focused in the Caribbean, Central America, sub-Sahara Africa, South Asia, and Europe.

Earlier in her career, Harriett worked in the U.S. national government as staff to a U.S. Senator and in the international private sector as an international marketing specialist in Haiti. She is the founder and President of the Marialla V. Magloire Foundation, Inc., a 501 (c) 3 public charity, with a mission to help provide access to basic life resources in underserved communities in the Southeastern United States and Haiti.

Harriett has earned a Master in Applied Social Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Pathology from Florida A&M University. She is a Food Systems Leadership Fellow, 2012-2014 Cohort.
