Luc Van der Veken has more than 20 years of experience managing health projects in developing countries, with extensive experience designing and implementing programs and strategies to improve quality, access of, and use of maternal and child health services along with policies aimed at developing human resources management structures, with particular emphasis on leadership training. He joined our team in Mozambique in 2002.
Since he joined Pathfinder, Luc has been engaged in the oversight of reproductive health and HIV & AIDS programs in Mozambique. The last six years he led the Strengthening Communities through Integrated Programming project focusing on social and behavior change communication. He now serves as the deputy chief of party for our Integrated Family Planning Program in Nampula and Sofala provinces of Mozambique.
Previously, Luc held a number of leadership positions at Médecins Sans Frontières, including posts in Mozambique, Mali, and Benin.
Luc has his MD from Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium. He speaks English, French, and Portuguese.
