Country Director

Mahbub-ul-Alam is the Country Director in Bangladesh. Mahbub joined Pathfinder in 2018 as the Family Planning Specialist, and in 2022, he took the responsibility of Pathfinder’s country leadership and also the role of Project Director of the USAID-funded Shukhi Jibon program. As Country Director, he is leading the Pathfinder’s country portfolio and facilitating strategic positioning of Pathfinder’s brand and legacy in Bangladesh. Before joining Pathfinder, he had a distinguished career at the Directorate General of Family Planning under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Bangladesh for 20 years holding various positions, including Program Manager, Family Planning Field Services Delivery. In that capacity, he was responsible for strengthening public-sector field services including family planning service delivery in hard-to-reach areas like urban slums, strengthening the functionality of integrated services, and overseeing the quality of care.

Mahbub received his Master’s in Public Health from Northumbria University in the United Kingdom. He also holds a Master of Population Sciences and a Master’s in Commerce from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh.
